NTSA vehicle inspector charged with receiving Sh26,000 bribe

A vehicle inspector with National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) was today charged in a Nairobi court with corruptly receiving a total of Sh 26,000 from a motorist.

Faith Naome Kabeso who appeared before Milimani Anti-Corruption Court senior principal magistrate Lawrence Mugambi denied four counts of receiving bribe from one Boru Galgalo Ali so as to release his vehicle which she had confiscated.

The court heard that on November 7,2017 at Ongata Rongai police station within Kajiado county, the accused being a person employed in public service namely NTSA as a vehicle inspector requested fora financial advantage of Sh 5,000 from Ali so as to release his vehicle registration No. KAZ 659 which she had confiscated.

Kabeso is also charged with receiving Sh 7,000 bribe from the same complainant on November 9,2017 at Nairobi Area Inspection Unit offices so as to release the same vehicle to him.

She is further accused of receiving another Sh 7,000  and Sh 7,000 bribe from the same complainant so as to release the same vehicle to the same complainant.

The magistrate ordered her to be released on a bond of Sh 200,000 or cash bail of Sh 100,000 pending the mention of the case on November 28.
