NTSA suspends 9 matatu saccos for failing to comply with law

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended nine matatu saccos for failing to comply with the law which requires a public service vehicle company to operate a maximum of 30 vehicles.

NTSA director-general Francis Meja said in a statement the companies include, City Tram, operating the Umoja-Kagundo Road route, Mwamba sacco on Komarock-Jogoo Road, Marvellous Travellers on Komarock Eastleigh route, and MNGN sacco operating along Mathare-Gikomba route.

Others are FigKomba sacco that plies Dandora-Gikomba route, Moonlight Coach Company operating between Commercial and Mathare North, Mwirona Sacco at Bus Station, Mwiki, Huruma mini bus from Huruma to CBD, and Transafar is sacco plying Nairobi-Kakamega-Kisumu route.

The authority has asked members of the public not to board these vehicles to avoid any inconveniences.

The NTSA asked the Traffic police to impound any vehicle, belonging to the nine saccos, found on the road.
