Four people died on the spot when a public service vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with a lorry at Maragua bridge on the Kenol-Murang’a road.
County police boss Josphat Kinyua said 12 others were critically injured. He said they have launched investigation to establish the circumstances under which the accident occurred.
Kinyua urged drivers to be careful terming the road a death trap.
“Drivers have to be care fill. We suspect this was a case of speeding though we shall launch investigations into the cause of the accident,” he said.
The incident comes barely two months after four other people perished at It he-Ruibridge in Maragua.
Residents have called on the county authority to expand the road and ensure proper markings are done to curb rising cases of accidents.
The death of the four brings to 16 the number of casualties on the road since January.
